Guernica
The Spanish Civil war took place from 1936 to 1939. it was a conflict in which the conservative and traditionalists forces in Spain rose against and defeated the Second Spanish Republic. After the fall of the monarchy in 1931 the Second Republic made a board-ranging attack to the privileged structure of the Spanish society. Large estates were distributed, church and state were split, and an antimilitarist policy was proclaimed. The nationalists took over the last republican center in the north wich was Bilbao. The nationalists went to the Mediterranean and split the republican territory in two. in 1938 Barcelona and Catalonia was taken. The victory was awarded to the Nationalists in 1939.
Guernica was bombed in 1937. It was a Monday afternoon in Guernica when it got bombed it was a market day, so there was allot of people there. 100,000 pounds of explosives were dumped on Guernica within the population. tHe nationalists denied responsibility of the bombing. Sources say it got bombed because it was a bridge over the Mundaca River. The bombing was meant to cut off the fleeing republican troops. The odd thing was that the bridge, the railroad station, and the small arms facility didnt get bombed.
1. Sanjurjo collaborated with Franco
2. He might ahve thought she died because she was where the bomb hit and he had to leave right away.
3. I think he was thinking about all the people that died and the rubble and the mess that was made along with the animals that were in the market area.
